Miami is no stranger to reinvention, but the upcoming launch of PS MIA at Miami International Airport marks a game-changer for travelers seeking something far beyond TSA lines and crowded terminals. Opening in Spring 2026, PS MIA will become the first private terminal for commercial flights at MIA, offering a luxury pre- and post-flight experience designed for those who expect—and demand—more from the journey.
Located within the former Pan American Airways (Pan Am) headquarters, this pioneering project does more than just bypass the traditional airport—it breathes new life into a historic site. A Miami-Dade County Historic Site since 2014, the building is undergoing a thoughtful redesign led by architect Richard Heisenbottle, known for his expertise in preservation, and interior designer Cliff Fong, whose nuanced aesthetic blends era-specific touches with contemporary refinement.
PS MIA is rewriting the playbook on airport luxury. Guests will never step foot inside the main airport building. Instead, they’ll enjoy access to The Salon, a refined lounge offering chef-driven menus, craft cocktails, and concierge-level service, or choose one of five Private Suites, each complete with its own outdoor balcony for rarefied relaxation before or after a flight.
The experience continues with direct tarmac transfers to and from commercial aircraft via private luxury vehicles, streamlining the travel process to feel more like a stay at an exclusive resort than a standard trip to the airport.
The renovation of the Pan Am building isn’t simply about modernization. It’s an homage. The team behind PS MIA is committed to preserving the structure’s defining mid-century brutalist features—from its dramatic gold paneling and concrete lines to its original reflecting pools and iconic Pan Am logos.
Interior elements will nod to the glamour of Pan Am’s golden era and the cultural dynamism of Miami. Expect a natural yet tailored aesthetic: rich woods, soft upholstery, minimalist forms, and timeless silhouettes—elevated by details that speak to Miami’s lush energy and PS’ exacting design standards.
Beyond its architectural significance, PS MIA will introduce a host of curated amenities meant to soothe and inspire.
Five private suites with personalized service
Two full-service salons with dining and lounge options
An open-air courtyard offering calm in the heart of travel
A dedicated day spa providing massages and beauty treatments
Every detail is designed to slow down time and create a seamless bridge between Miami’s jet-set lifestyle and the rigors of modern air travel.
The July 10th unveiling event underscored the scope and ambition of the project. PS CEO Amina Porter was joined by Ralph Cutié, Director & CEO of Miami International Airport, and Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava to announce the launch and emphasize the terminal’s importance as both an innovation in hospitality and a celebration of Miami’s architectural heritage.
Guests were treated to a guided tour of the restoration by Cliff Fong, revealing how the space will thoughtfully honor its past while raising the standard for airport luxury worldwide.
For the modern traveler who considers comfort non-negotiable and experience a necessity, PS MIA signals a new way to fly. It's not just about skipping the lines—it’s about bringing glamour, privacy, and intention back into the journey. And with its home set inside a piece of Miami’s aviation history, it’s a legacy reimagined.
