DLT Interiors Does It Best

Resident Staff

Debbie Travin of DLT Interiors has done it again! She's just completed a large 3 bed/3 bath apartment on the Upper East Side with spectcular city views.

She explains that the home had to be renovated before she could start the interior design. The apartment was very dark because the previous owners had heavy drapery, which closed off all the natural light and it desperately needed updating. The owners wanted a fresh, modern, bright and airy feel throughout (they came to the right woman!).

She started by refinishing the dark floors to a light natural wood color. She then painted and added wallpaper to a few accent walls. The clients agreed on doing Aqua as the accent color. The custom velvet tufted bench is the statement piece in the room; giving it a pop of soft color along with the Aqua trellis pillows on the sofa. Immediately, the space was bright and airy. Taking the heavy drapery down and putting up sheer soft linen window treatments changed the entire feel and allowed the homeowners to take advantage of the open city views.

With that done, Debbie had a fresh palette to start the interior design. "I always listen carefully to exactly what the clients want out of their space," says Debbie. "By asking questions, I hit it on the spot, on my first try. My clients told me I took their vision and surpassed it by making it far more stunning then they could ever imagine!"
