Introducing Luminosa: A Festival of Lights, where New Yorkers can walk through a magical world of dazzling light this Winter. With over 30 dazzling lamp scenes spread across the garden, this festival of lights transforms Queens Botanical Gardens into a luminous cultural wonderland. The exhibit features over 100 stunning lamps crafted by 150 artisans using 120 tons of steel and 150,000 feet of silk. Wander through glowing castles, enchanted forests, and mythical creatures as classic stories come to life in a breathtaking illuminated display.
Lights can be overwhelming when you view the flashing lights of Times Square, Las Vegas, or Tokyo. In these scenarios, your brain releases adrenaline, cortisol, and dopamine. Spending an extended period in such an environment can lead to sensory overload, which is not enjoyable. Instead of harsh flashes, the glow of lights in this exhibit is steady and calming, evoking a sense of serenity and quiet wonder.
Winter is often a time of indoor hibernation, gray skies, and inclement weather; some experience winter blues. Luminosa is a great way to snap out of this. The exhibit is only in the evening and is appropriate for all ages. We suggest making it an adventurous adult night, especially since Febuary is the season of love.
Don’t forget to dress warm, bring a thermostat for your favorite hot beverage, and your inner child for all the Instagram-snapping moments you will encounter. The exhibit runs in New York City until March 6th. The exhibit is also shown in Dallas, San Dimas, Sao Paulo, and Miami. For more information and reservations, visit www. lektrik.com.
