June 13th, 2025 – Fort Lauderdale is entering a new era of elevated living—and it’s anchored by one of the most ambitious coastal developments in the country. Introducing the St. Regis Resort & Residences, Bahia Mar, a transformative $2 billion project that brings together some of the world’s most respected names in design, hospitality, and real estate. With interiors by Tara Bernerd & Partners, architecture by Arquitectonica, and development led by Related Group, Tate Capital, and Rok Acquisitions, the project is poised to redefine the Fort Lauderdale skyline—and its lifestyle offering.
Set across 40 acres of prime marina-front land and water, this expansive new enclave sits on the site of the iconic Bahia Mar yachting marina, home to the famed Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS). Now, this globally recognized location is being transformed into a design-driven, resort-style community that captures the nautical DNA of the city while embracing the gilded sophistication of the St. Regis legacy.
Tara Bernerd’s London-based design studio—known for its bespoke approach to hospitality and residential interiors from Mayfair to Miami—has brought a thoughtful, tactile sensibility to the St. Regis Bahia Mar project. Every element of the space, from the residences to the resort-style amenities, has been conceived with a sense of place, elegance, and intention.
Her vision, crafted in harmony with Arquitectonica’s architectural envelope, draws on the area’s marine heritage, modernist Florida influences, and the legendary glamour associated with the St. Regis name. The result is a residential experience that feels both highly curated and entirely relaxed.
Each of the two 23-story residential towers, along with the 197-room hotel, will reflect Bernerd’s signature palette of warm woods, sculptural lighting, and bespoke finishes. Residences are designed to evoke the ease and openness of a private coastal villa, with sweeping floorplans that blur the boundary between interior and exterior. Wraparound terraces frame dramatic views of the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway, and the skyline beyond.
The residences—available in three- and four-bedroom floorplans ranging from 2,600 to 3,550 square feet—feature open layouts and elevated finishes that speak to modern luxury with a nautical edge. Chrome accents reference superyacht detailing, while bespoke millwork and warm timber flooring add an organic contrast. Custom kitchens come equipped with waterfall-edge islands, stone countertops, and cabinetry crafted to measure. Spa-inspired bathrooms, complete with oversized showers and sculptural soaking tubs, offer a sanctuary-like atmosphere.
For those drawn to resort-style living with added privacy, a limited number of residences atop the hotel will include one- to three-bedroom layouts and penthouse options, designed with the same emphasis on quality and spatial flow. Pricing for residences begins at $3 million, and all units are supported by the white-glove service standards synonymous with the St. Regis brand.
Beyond private residences, Tara Bernerd & Partners also designed the hotel interiors and an extensive suite of amenities that elevate the everyday into the exceptional. From the private beach club and fine dining venues to the full-service marina and curated retail experiences, every corner of the development has been considered through a lens of design, comfort, and coastal culture.
A recent milestone in the project’s momentum: the unveiling of the on-site sales and design gallery, which includes model residences styled with Tara Bernerd’s bespoke aesthetic. To mark the occasion, global luxury real estate broker and television personality Fredrik Eklund, who serves as the project’s Ambassador, released a video tour showcasing his top five design elements within the space.
As Fort Lauderdale continues to evolve from a seasonal getaway to a year-round destination for design-savvy residents, the St. Regis Resort & Residences, Bahia Mar is setting a new standard. It’s not just the largest-scale development on the waterfront—it’s also one of the most artfully executed.
With Douglas Elliman Development Marketing leading exclusive sales and marketing, the residences promise to attract buyers seeking more than just a home—they’re looking for a lifestyle grounded in design, service, and setting. And here, at the edge of sea and city, that balance is finally realized.
