This Independence Day weekend, the East End will trade fireworks for phrasing and bravado as the incomparable Marilyn Maye headlines Hamptons Summer Songbook by the Sea. The July 5 performance—fittingly titled Meet Marvelous Marilyn Maye—will open the acclaimed series’ third season with a powerhouse evening of timeless American music, storytelling, and pure showmanship.
Presented at LTV Studios in East Hampton, the series transforms the venue’s working television studio into an immersive cabaret space, where café tables, warm lighting, and a gleaming Baby Grand create a setting as transportive as the music itself. For those seeking a different tempo to their Hamptons weekend, this is where Broadway meets the beach—with a masterclass in musical theatre history leading the way.
At 96, Marilyn Maye is not just performing—she’s thriving. A legendary vocalist with roots in big band, Broadway, and cabaret, Maye’s stamina, pitch-perfect delivery, and signature wit remain undiminished. Her career spans more than seven decades, but her cultural resonance hasn’t slowed. Discovered by Johnny Carson and featured on The Tonight Show an astonishing 76 times, she has long been celebrated by musicians and theater-lovers alike as one of America’s most enduring interpreters of the songbook.
Now, her presence on the East End offers a rare opportunity to witness a living legend in her prime.
“Opening this season with Marilyn Maye is a dream come true. She brings every dimension—humor, technique, elegance, energy. She is the embodiment of what this Songbook series aims to deliver.”Donna Rubin, Founder and Producer of Hamptons Summer Songbook by the Sea
Launched just three summers ago, Hamptons Summer Songbook by the Sea has quickly established itself as a pillar of East End culture. Under the creative direction of Josh Gladstone and produced by Rubin, the series is celebrated for its intimacy and excellence—a venue where established stars and rising vocalists share their reverence for the American musical canon.
Following Maye’s July 5 kickoff, the summer lineup continues through August 30 with performances by Lee Roy Reams, Liz Callaway, KT Sullivan and Mark Nadler, Moipei, and more. Each concert is designed to feel less like a show and more like an evening shared—close, curated, and alive with musical nuance.
All performances take place at LTV Studios, outfitted with state-of-the-art lighting and acoustics, modular staging, and a layout that invites guests to lean in, sip slowly, and savor the artistry on display.
