This year’s Monterey Car Week promises plenty of automotive theater, but few unveilings carry the weight of anticipation quite like the 2027 Karma Amaris. Making its full debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on August 15 and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Concept Lawn on August 17, the Amaris enters the stage as the world’s first Hybrid EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) performance luxury coupé. Production begins in Q4 2026, with pricing starting around $200,000 USD.
Amaris pairs high-octane thrills with engineering sophistication. Delivering 708 horsepower and 676 lb-ft of torque, the coupé sprints from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds, before reaching an electronically governed top speed of 165 mph. Its Hybrid EREV powertrain features two electric motors driving the rear wheels, powered by a 41.5 kWh battery maintained by a 4-cylinder turbocharged internal combustion engine (ICE) generator.
The result is over 100 miles of electric-only range and more than 400 miles of combined range. Drivers can recharge via electricity or refuel with gasoline, offering flexibility without sacrificing performance.
“Amaris delivers pure desire paired with eco-conscious driving like no other vehicle in the world.”Marques McCammon, Karma Automotive President and CEO
The Amaris embodies Karma’s latest Comet Line design language, first introduced on the Kaveya super-coupé. In its Solar Blaze Red launch specification, the carbon fiber and aluminum body strikes a harmonious balance between elegance and aggression. The Comet Line flows from the sculpted cowl, arcs across the hood, and sweeps toward the wide rear track, emphasizing its stance.
Details such as the clamshell hood with Karma’s Target Lighting signature, 22-inch forged aluminum Constellation wheels, and “swan doors” that pivot upward all contribute to its show-stopping presence. The aero pass-through spoiler enhances stability while reducing drag, and the Americana-inspired side exhaust adds a note of muscularity.
Inside, the Amaris is finished in Crimson Orbit leather and suede, accented with carbon fiber and piano black. The electrochromatic full glass roof shifts from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button, while the cabin’s “orbits” distinctly frame the driver and passenger zones. In its two-seat configuration, the sculpted rear compartment is designed for travel bags rather than passengers, underscoring its grand touring intent.
Every element of the cabin’s form hints at motion—the door panels slope from shoulder height toward the footwells, the center console flows forward, and even the carbon fiber rear brace evokes motorsport heritage. The ignition process begins with a small ceremony: lifting the hinged leather cover to reveal the “Start” button.
Karma’s “reductionary” design ethos keeps non-essential features hidden until needed. The co-pilot’s display activates only when the passenger is seated, cupholders remain concealed beneath the wireless charging pad, and ambient lighting adapts to the chosen drive mode.
The Karma Amaris is not simply a showcase of power and aesthetics—it’s a proof of concept for the future of grand touring. By marrying exhilarating performance with the flexibility of a hybrid EREV system, Karma Automotive has created a coupé capable of covering long distances with both pace and grace, while offering drivers the choice of electric or gasoline propulsion.
As it takes its place at Monterey Car Week, the Amaris is poised to set a new benchmark for luxury performance coupes, signaling a future where sustainability and desire are not competing forces, but perfect partners.
